Youth exhibitors of Simgenetics rewarded Simbrah-Simmental Superbowl
Junior exhibitors of Simgenetic cattle competed for over $70,000 in prize monies, buckles and scholarships at the annual Simbrah-Simmental Superbowl held Feb. 14th in conjunction with the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo.
The unique event, allows youth, who purchase a heifer from participating sponsors to show in this competition that includes a high paying showmanship contest, also. Sponsors pay $1,000 for their cattle to be eligible.
The event was founded by Tim Smith, Carlos Guerra and Bill Wentz and this year marked the 32nd annual contest. Over $1.2 million has now been awarded over the three decades.
Canaan and Mollie Dreibrodt, New Braunfels, Texas were the showmanship judges. There were 13 divisions and each division rewarded first and second place with a buckle, as well as $1,000 in premiums per each age group was available, paying through tenth place. At the end of showmanship, the first and second from each division then competed for the overall title. Hannah Wright took the overall grand champion showman honor and a check for $1,500, plus a buckle home and Coen Bell received a check for $1,000 and a buckle for his reserve grand champion showman selection.
Showmanship winners in the 8-9-year old division were Camryn Travis in first, followed by Brynley Buzzard, Roy Baring, Noah Rehm, Waylon Seale, Brentley Sandifer, Ryssa Silvas, and Alessandra Hinojosa.
Ellie Petrash was the winner of the 10-year-old division followed by Jackie McReynolds, Colson Glueck, Nolan Seale, Jacob Merritt, Colton Fran’s, Bryleigh Sandifer, Teagan Wilson, Kannon Hill, Rylee Baring and Cara Kincaid.
Bailey Buzzard won the 11-year-old division followed by Riley Dement, Joe Ellis, Case Travis, Heather Thiele, Tanner Carrizales, Emerson Posey, Stockton Lightfoot, Brynn Pilat, and Kessler Campbell.
Maci Weems won the 12-year-old segment followed by Ryder Baring, Griffin Dodson, Holden Hawkins and Jessica Bordelon.
The 13A-year-old group was won by Kinleigh Compton, followed by Addison Lucas, Elizabeth Guinn, Zachary Ellis, Madalyn Boettcher, and Willa Fucik.
Victoria Garcia won the 13B division followed by Bailee Wilson, MaKenzie Dewberry, Atalie Petrash, Keely Whitaker, and Kaylee Dement.
The 14-year-old division was won by Aiden Glueck, followed by Aaron Rexrode, Skylar Wilkerson, Jenna Tyler, Cain Todd, Brantley Kennedy, Kobe Crabb, Payton Lucas, and Kylee Rich.
Mallory Fitzgerald won the 15-year-old division, followed by Grace Tullos, Dakota Franz, Sydney Petrash, Rylie Smith, Scollie Saha, Kaden Pilat, Cecelia Gibson, Kate Martin, Kayden Fisher, and Aidan Hacker.
Jess Pool won the 16A-year-old division, followed by Callie Heaton, Gavin Hinckley, Kendall Compton, Morgan Crane, Kyle Grabs, Barely Freytag, and Jarrett Pool.
The 16B age group was won by Claire Todd, followed by Jenna Jennings, Emily Denny, Addis Fucik, Leah Thorp, Jesse Macat and Lela Morgan.
The 17A age group was won by Hannah Wright, followed by Justice Epley, Laikyn Rich, Carlos X Guerra III, Avery Glueck, Slade Saha and Kiera Cantu.
Results from the 17B-year-old division saw Cassidy Lake in first, followed by Alton Bauer, Gabriela Ramirez, Stephen Gunn, Kaplan Freytag, Riley Buettner, Ashley Hillman and Madison Watson.
The 18-year-old division was won by Coen Bell followed by Davin Pena, Brailey Kidds, Abbygayle Spivey, Ryleigh Whitaker, Baylie Macat, Bailey Stockland, Lauren Boettcher, Dylan Babb, Darby McGurk and Tyler Swinyer.
Canaan Drieboldt judged the Percentage Simmental, Percentage Simbrah and Simmental shows, while Matt Claeys from Indiana judged the purebred Smbrahs.
The Superbowl Grand Champion Percentage Simmental Heifer title was won by Maci Weems with a JAS Crib Heritage 102H daughter. She was sponsored by Cribbs Cattle and received $500. Rylie Smith was named the reserve grand champion in that breed with her LLSF Uprising Z925 daughter, sponsored by BKE Farms. She received $250.
Superbowl Grand Champion Percentage Simbrah Heifer honors went to Ryder Baring with a Profit daughter, sponsored by Baring Cattle Co. Ellie Petrash took the reserve with a Hagan Hush Money daughter, sponsored by Higher Up Cattle. They received $500 and $250 respectively.
The senior and grand champion Simmental female was exhibited by Claire Todd and sponsored by Blount Farms, while Dakota Franz won reserve grand Simmental with a Levi Douglas sponsored heifer. Both champions were sired by Copacetic. They received $1,500 and $1,000 respectively.
The Simmental heifer calf championship went to McKenzie DeBerry with her So Remedy 7F5 daughter, sponsored by Madden Ross. The reserve heifer calf title went to Cain Todd with a WLE Copacetic daughter, sponsored by Blount Farms. Junior champion Simmental heifer honors were won by Aaron Rexrode with a SO Remedy 75 daughter sponsored by Foster Bros. and Bradley Kidd was reserve with a OMF Hard Right daughter also sponsored by Foster Bros. Division winners received additional premiums.
Gavin Hinckley took the senior champion purebred Simbrah honors with his Smith CRC Lubbock daughter, sponsored by Smith Genetics/TMP Livestock. She would also be the grand champion, which paid $1,500. Nolan Seale exhibited his early junior heifer winner to the reserve grand purebred Simbrah title with a RGV DRC Paying The Bills sired heifer, sponsored by La Muñeca. He received $1,000 for the win.
Parker Pilat won the heifer calf honor in the purebred Simbrah Show, while Kannon Hill took reserve in the division. Both heifers were sired Smith Follow My Lead and sponsored by Smith Genetics. Senior heifer calf champion honors in the Purebred Simbrah Show goes to Kaylee Dement with her Smith Follow My Lead daughter, sponsored by Smith Genetics. Holden Hawkins took the reserve with his Smith Made Solid daughter also sponsored by Smith Genetics. Champion intermediate purebred Simbrah heifer honors went to Kayden Pilat with a Smith Made Solid daughter sponsored by Smith Genetics. Jenna Tyler exhibited the reserve in this division with RGV DRC Paying The Bills daughter, sponsored by La Muñeca Cattle Co. Kynlee Grabs took the reserve early junior heifer calf division title with a Smith Practical daughter, sponsored by Smith Genetics. Davin Pena won the late junior champion purebred Simbrah division with his 5W Royal daughter, sponsored by Top C Cattle Co., while Mallory Fitzgerald was reserve with her LMC Upgraded daughter, sponsored by 6G Ranch. Skylar Wilkerson won reserve in the senior division with a Smith Made Solid daughter, sponsored by Smith Genetics.
At the conclusion of the show 41 exhibitors were awarded $250 scholarships each.

There were 147 exhibitors at the 2023 Simbrah-Simmental Superbowl and at the conclusion, 40 received $250 scholarships each.
Showmanship is a focal point of the Simbrah-Simmental Superbowl and this year’s contest featured 13 different age groups with a payout 10 deep in each group. The top two of each division then competed for the overall and reserve overall showman of the event. Showmanship judges were Garrett Standfield and Doug Parke.

The Superbowl Showmanship contest featured 14 age groups with a payout of 10 deep, buckles to the top two in each age group, as well as an overall grand and reserve grand showman selected from the top 28 placing exhibitors.
Following the event 42 exhibitors were awarded $250 scholarships to cap off the 30th annual event.

At the conclusion of the 27th Annual Simbrah-Simmental Superbowl, 41 exhibitors were awarded $250 scholarships each.
The 2019 Grand Champion Percentage Simmental heifer was exhibited by Zachary Wagoner. The heifer was sired by Mr. HOC Broker and he was sponsored by BKE Farms. He received $500 for the overall win.
The 2019 reserve grand winner was Madison Culpepper with a W/C Loaded Up daughter from her sponsor, Hilmes Cattle Co. She received $250 for the overall win.
The 2019 Grand Champion Simmental heifer was exhibited by Kayden Tanner with his Double T Farms sponsored heifer. She was sired by W/C Relentless 32C. He received $1,500 for the overall win.
